Dear Members,
We hope this message finds you well. After careful consideration, CASWE-ACFTS has decided to pause its annual conference for a year, and as such we will not be joining Congress in 2025.
Following the events which unfolded during this year’s Congress in Montréal, and the disastrous impact they had on many of our members, volunteers and on our staff team, the Board of Directors and I decided that the wiser path would be to give ourselves some time to heal as an organization and evaluate the frame within which we have been offering this annual conference, instead of hastily committing to another conference within Congress.
This decision also reflects our commitment to ensuring that future conferences remain aligned with our values around social justice and decolonial realities and are congruent with evolving priorities.
While we won’t be gathering in person in 2025, supporting professional growth and fostering connections between members of the CASWE-ACFTS community remains at the heart of our preoccupations. We will share exciting initiatives and ideas for the upcoming month with you all promptly, including webinars and networking opportunities.
We would like to hear from you as our members as well in our efforts to shape what the future of our CASWE-ACFTS Conference will be. As such, and in order to gather your feedback, we will circulate an upcoming survey to all our individual members.
Also, further information about our AGM in 2025 will be communicated promptly.
If you have any questions, please contact Carole Carpot at ed-dg@caswe-acfts.ca.
Wishing you all a great rest of the semester.
Respectfully,
Carole Carpot, Executive Director and CASWE-ACFTS Board of Directors
